This medical errors course addresses the 3 areas mandated by Florida statute for 491 Board licensees:
- Root-cause analyses
- Medical error reduction and prevention
- Patient safety in medical/health and mental health environments, and mandatory risk management reporting by non-physician employees in licensed clinical and patient care settings in Florida.
Employing diverse and multiple perspectives (organizational to personal), this course uses multiple videos to illustrate:
- Root-cause analysis (via a case studies that reduced medical errors)
- Enhanced communication and checklists to prevent or curtail medical errors.
This course addresses needs of licensees employed in:
- Direct service delivery systems within licensed health and/or mental health facilities
- Public or private therapies serving health, mental, and behavioral health clients or patients and their families victimized by medical errors
- Various therapeutic interventions or development of programs serving or planning to serve health or mental healthcare system providers (including those healthcare professionals committing medical errors).
